Orthopedic Massage

imageOrthopedic massage is designed to treat medical conditions and requires extensive training. It releases and lengthens tight muscles and tendons and decompresses rigid joints. It's great for treating both your specific conditions as well as improving your overall well-being.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy gently and rhythmically moves lymphatic fluid through the body, relieving swelling (edema) and enhancing the functioning of the immune system.  LD can be used for faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and pain from lymph node removal or radiation therapy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Intra-Oral Massage

imageBy working the musculature around the neck, head, face and inside the mouth, the pain and locking of the temporal-mandibular (jaw) joint can be decreased.  This work can also reduce ringing in the ears as well as decrease headaches and earaches.  Nitrile (non-latex) gloves are worn during all work done in the mouth.

Myofascial Massage

Myofascial Massage targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself.  Fascia/connective tissue completely encases every muscle and organ in the body, so imbalances can seriously affect your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage targets releasing the tension in this tissue.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage relieves tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. It releases pains due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and old injuries. Open communication during the session is important to ensure you don't get too uncomfortable. Soreness is pretty common after the treatment, so drink plenty of water to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released during the deep tissue session.image

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy releases "trigger points"--tender, taut areas that occur in the belly of the muscle. These "knots" form throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. Focused pressure is applied to release trigger points and yes, you might be tender afterwards, so you may want to ice down 10-15 minutes after your session.

Active Isolated Stretching

Developed by Aaron Mattes, Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a dynamic system of bodywork.  You and I work together on deepening stretches in a gentle way to help re-set your muscles proprioceptors, improving not only your flexibility and range of motion but the ease with which you move.

Swedish Massage

imageSwedish Massage is very relaxing and nurturing. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation and lessen tension. In addition, it relieves mild aches and pains, decreases stress, enhances mental clarity, and re-connects you with your body.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage reduces the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, relief from joint pain due to extra stress on ligaments and muscles, postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.

Abdominal Massage

This work reduces painful periods, menstrual irregularities and can even assist with fertility.  It increases circulation to the abdominal organs while decreasing scar tissue and can help reposition the uterus.   It can also assist men in early stages of prostate disease by helping to clear the congestion around the prostate gland.  It can be mildly uncomfortable when working on scar tissue, but overall, it is very nurturing and supportive.

Pain Neutralization Technique

A very gentle yet powerfully effective way of working with trigger points that is much more comfortable for the patient than traditional trigger point therapy.  Patients often say the work is extremely calming and relaxing.  Anyone who has had iliopsoas trigger point work knows how painful it is;  clients are amazed at how gentle, different, yet, incredibly effective this technique is for this area.
